At Breakthrough Speech, our mission has always been rooted in connection — helping individuals communicate in ways that feel natural, empowering, and meaningful. Today, we’re proud to share an important step forward in that mission: we are now offering speech‑language services for adults who live with aphasia and/or communication challenges following a stroke and/or acquired brain injury.
For many adults, communication changes after a neurological event or a motor vehicle accident can feel overwhelming. Words may come slower. Conversations may feel harder to follow. Everyday tasks — ordering a coffee, making a phone call, sharing a story with a loved one — can suddenly feel out of reach. But communication is not lost. With the right support, it can be rebuilt, strengthened, and adapted in ways that restore confidence and connection.
Why These Services Matter
Communication is at the heart of who we are. It shapes our relationships, our independence, and our sense of identity. When communication becomes difficult, it affects far more than speech — it touches every part of daily life. By expanding our services to adults, we aim to:
- Support functional, real‑world communication: Whether it’s expressing needs, participating in conversations, or navigating community interactions, our focus is always on communication that matters in everyday life.
- Promote meaningful relationships: Connection with family, friends, and community is essential for emotional well‑being. We help clients rebuild the skills and confidence needed to stay engaged with the people who matter most.
- Create opportunities for communication breakthroughs: True progress often happens in small, powerful moments — finding the right word, expressing a thought clearly, reconnecting with a loved one. These breakthroughs, big or small, are at the heart of what we do and why we care so deeply about this work.
- Empower clients through personalized therapy: Every person’s journey is unique. We tailor therapy to each client’s strengths, goals, and lived experiences — whether that means practicing conversation strategies, exploring alternative communication tools, or building cognitive‑communication skills.
- Provide a supportive, respectful space: Recovery is not linear. We meet clients exactly where they are, celebrating progress and adapting goals as communication grows and changes.
Looking Ahead With Hope
We are truly honored to walk alongside adults and families navigating life after stroke, aphasia, or traumatic brain injury. These services reflect our deep commitment to helping individuals reclaim their voice — in whatever form that may take — and continue building the relationships and routines that bring meaning to their lives.
At Breakthrough Speech, we believe in the power of communication breakthroughs — moments that restore connection, confidence, and possibility. We look forward to helping our clients experience more of these moments as they move forward in their recovery.
If you or someone you love is looking for support, we’re here to help. Together, we can take the next steps toward clearer communication, renewed confidence, and a future filled with connection.
Sincerely,
The Team at Breakthrough Speech & Language Therapy
